The Nissan Tekton is all set to make its India debut tomorrow (July 9, 2026). Following the discontinuation of the Kicks, it will be Nissan’s second attempt to tap the highly-competitive midsize SUV segment. The Tekton is essentially Nissan derivative of the third-generation Renault Duster, featuring a completely new design language inspired by the flagship Partrol SUV.
Turbo Petrol Engines
Similar to the Duster, the Nissan Tekton will be offered with 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.3-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine options, delivering power worth 100bhp with 166Nm and 163bhp with 280Nm, respectively. A 6-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission will be exclusively offered with the more powerful 1.3L petrol engine.
Renault’s 1.8L strong hybrid petrol powertrain will remain exclusive to the Duster. This powertrain, with an e-CVT gearbox, delivers a combined power of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.
Patrol-Inspired Styling
The front fascia is heavily inspired by the Nissan Patrol SUV. It features a familiar wide grille with two chrome strips, connected LED DRLs, LED headlamps and a dual-tone bumper. The side profile shares a resemblance with the Duster with bold shoulder creases, window integrated rear door handles, a black trim on the front doors and pronounced wheel arches. At the rear, the Tekton sports connected LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, a monotone tailgate and a dual-tone bumper.
Duster-Like Interior & Features
The interior of the Nissan Tekton is yet to be revealed. However, the SUV is likely to offer cabin layout and features identical to the Duster. The feature list is expected to include a 102.5-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, dual zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
Expected Price & Competition
In the midsize SUV segment, the Nissan Tekton will face challenge from the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Sierra and Renault Duster. Prices of the SUV are expected to start around Rs 10.50 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 18.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
