4 Upcoming Kia SUVs In India – Hybrid, EV, 7-Seater & More


Kia India is betting big on electrified vehicles, and plans to introduce five new electric and hybrid UVs over the next five years. The upcoming lineup will including the Kia Syros EV, Kia Sorento, Kia Seltos Hybrid, next-generation Kia Sonet and Kia Carnival hybrid. While the Carnival hybrid is expected to arrive by 2029, the remaining four models are scheduled to launch by the end of 2027. Here’s a quick look at the key details of these upcoming Kia hybrid and electric SUVs.

Upcoming Kia SUVs In India

Kia Syros EV
Expected Price: Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh

The Kia Syros EV is expected to be introduced with two battery pack options, 42kWh and 51.4kWh, delivering ranges up to 420km and 520km, respectively. The same battery options are available in the Kia Carens Clavis EV. The overall exterior and interior design of the Syros EV will largely remain similar to the ICE-powered version, with a few EV-specific changes.

Kia Sorento
Expected Price: Rs 30 lakh onwards

The Kia Sorento three-row premium SUV will be the brand’s first hybrid offering in the Indian market. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the powertrain details, Kia is likely to use a hybridized version of its proven 1.5L petrol engine. Measuring around 4.8 metres in length, the Kia Sorento will challenge the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Jeep Meridian.

Kia Seltos Hybrid
Expected Price: Rs 19 lakh – Rs 25.50 lakh

The new-generation Kia Seltos, which was launched earlier this year, is set to go hybrid in early 2027. It’s expected to feature the hybridized version of the 1.5L petrol engine, which will debut with the Sorento. Save for the hybrid-specific software updates and ‘Hybrid’ badges, the overall design, interior and features of the Seltos hybrid are likely to remain unchanged.

Next-Gen Kia Sonet
Expected Price: Rs 8 lakh – Rs 16 lakh

Codenamed QY2E, the second-generation Kia Sonet will receive comprehensive design changes, interior upgrades, and a hybrid powertrain at a later stage. The subcompact SUV will switch to the new K1 platform, which is also used by the Syros, and is expected to get a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. Initially, the 2027 Kia Sonet will be offered with the existing 1.2L NA petrol, turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options. The Sonet hybrid is likely to arrive by 2028 or 2029.
