Apple introduced several new Apple Intelligence features during WWDC 2026 alongside the advanced Siri AI. However, the company’s most powerful on-device AI model, along with several of the features it enables, will only be available on select devices.
In a press release, Apple confirmed that its most advanced on-device AI model requires at least 12GB of unified memory. This model powers several new Apple Intelligence capabilities, including Siri AI features such as more expressive voices and enhanced dictation.

On the iPhone side, support is limited to the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air, all of which are equipped with 12GB of unified memory. The standard iPhone 17, which comes with 8GB of RAM, does not meet the requirement and therefore will not support these features.
For iPad users, the new AI capabilities will be available on models powered by the M4 chip or newer with at least 12GB of unified memory. On the Mac, support extends to devices equipped with an M3 chip or later and 12GB of RAM or more. Lastly, the Apple Vision Pro with M5 will also support the advanced AI features.
