Asus re-enters tablet market with the new 12.2-inch Pad

Last month, a rumor suggested that Asus was preparing to re-enter the tablet market. Now, the company has officially confirmed its return to the category with the announcement of the new Asus Pad.

The Asus Pad features a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display that offers a refresh rate of 144Hz, a 3:2 aspect ratio, 600 nits of brightness, and 2,800 x 1,840 pixels resolution.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 chipset, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Asus has also included a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Keeping the lights on is a 9,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The tablet gets a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, and runs Android 16.

The Asus Pad gets a 13MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash, while a 5MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

The tablet weighs 523 grams and measures 6.5mm thick. It features a magnesium-alloy chassis paired with a fiberglass rear panel.

Asus has yet to announce pricing and availability details for the new tablet.

When it arrives, the Asus Pad will support the Asus Pen 2.0 stylus and an optional Bluetooth keyboard. The company will also bundle a protective case in the box.
