NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday alleged that the BJP is planning to “plant bombs” during the upcoming state assembly elections.“The BJP is planning to plant bombs during the polls and bring the National Investigation Agency for investigation,” the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said at a poll rally in Cooch Behar, PTI reported. The BJP, which leads the government at the Centre, is the principal opposition party in West Bengal and is aiming to prevent the TMC from securing a fourth consecutive term. The Banerjee-led party first came to power in the state in 2011.At a separate rally in Alipurduar, Banerjee alleged that people from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and neighbouring Assam—all BJP-ruled states—are staying in hotels with “large amounts of money” to “influence” voters in West Bengal.Polling in West Bengal will be held in two phases. In the first phase, on April 23, voters in 152 constituencies will cast their votes, while the remaining 142 constituencies will go to the polls on April 29.The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
