Brook was initially involved in an altercation with a nightclub bouncer and had claimed at the time that he was alone during the incident. However, the matter resurfaced two months later, leading to further scrutiny.Brook was subsequently fined £30,000 by the England and Wales Cricket Board and handed a final warning. He later revised his account, admitting that Bethell and fast bowler Josh Tongue were also present. Brook acknowledged that he had not told the full truth earlier, explaining that he did so in an attempt to shield his teammates, and issued a public apology.Despite the incident, both Brook and Bethell featured in the ODI the following day, a match England lost by two wickets, completing a 3-0 series whitewash.
