Today, buyers are spoiled for choices when it comes to the sub-4 metre SUV and compact crossover segment. While several new models are already in the pipeline, many popular subcompact SUVs are set to receive facelifts and generational upgrades in the coming years. Here’s a brief overview of the renowned subcompact SUVs that are scheduled for updates.
Maruti Brezza Facelift

Frequent sighting of the new 2026 Maruti Brezza facelift test mules hints at its imminent launch. The updated model is likely to receive subtle design tweaks and a few feature upgrades. As per media reports, the new Brezza could be offered with the Fronx-sourced 1.0L turbo petrol engine along with the existing 1.5L NA petrol unit. A new 6-speed manual gearbox might also be reserved for the turbo-petrol variants.
Hyundai Exter Facelift

The new Hyundai Exter facelift will hit showrooms by mid-2026. The micro SUV will feature slightly revised styling, while retaining its signature upright stance. Inside, it might get a larger touchscreen, new trims and upholstery and an updated instrument console. Under the hood, the mini SUV is expected to feature the same 82bhp, 1.2L NA petrol engine along with a CNG powertrain option.
Maruti Fronx Facelift/Taisor Facelift

The Maruti Fronx facelift is currently in its testing phase and expected to arrive in 2027. The biggest upgrade will come in the form of an ADAS suite and a strong hybrid powertrain. The compact crossover is likely to be the brand’s first model to feature Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed 1.2L petrol hybrid powertrain.
New-Gen Kia Sonet

As of now, there is no official words on launch timeline of the new-generation Kia Sonet. The subcompact SUV is likely to witness comprehensive changes inside and out, inspired by the new Selots. The engine setup; however, is expected to remain unchanged.
New-Gen Tata Nexon

The new-generation Tata Nexon is salted to launch in 2027. Internally codenamed as ‘Garud’ project, the subcompact SUV will underpin a heavily modified platform and feature a new design language. It would be quite early to comment on the feature upgrades; however, it’s expected to come with an ADAS suite along with new upholstery and trims. The existing 12.L turbo petrol engine will remain on offer, while the diesel engine could be removed from the lineup due to the upcoming BS 7 emission norms.
New-Gen Mahindra XUV 3XO

The next-generation Mahindra XUV 3XO is expected to hit Indian roads by mid-2028 or by early 2029. However, there is no official words on the same. The SUV’s new model could be heavily inspired by the Mahindra Vision X concept, which was showcased last year’s Independence Day. The new XUV 3XO might switch to the NU_IQ platform that’s compatible with multiple powertrains.
