Renault India’s future strategy is stronger than ever. The French automaker is set to kick start its comeback plan with the third-generation Renault Duster, which is slated to go on sale on March 17, 2026. The Duster hybrid will follow its ICE counterpart during 2026 Diwali season, featuring the segment’s most powerful hybrid powertrain. In 2027, Renault will expand its product portfolio with the 7-seater Duster (unveiled as the Renault Boreal last year) and the Bridger concept-based SUV.
Furthermore, Renault plans to make its Chennai manufacturing facility a global production hub and an integral part of its global supply chain. The carmaker is also strategizing to increase AI (artificial intelligence) adoption across product manufacturing and other operations, while enhancing the overall customer experience.
Upcoming Renault SUVs in India 2026-27
Hyundai Creta Rival SUV

The French automaker is betting big on the new-gen Renault Duster, which will challenge SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate.
This midsize SUV will also receive a strong hybrid version near around this year’s Diwali season. The Duster hybrid will compete against the hybrid versions of the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The upcoming Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos hybrid SUVs will also give tough fight.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Rival SUV

The Renault Duster 7-seater SUV is expected to carry a new nameplate in India. It’s likely to share the design language, features, components and powertrains with its 5-seater sibling. However, it will surely be longer and more spacious than the 5-seater Duster. When launched, the Duster 7-seater will take on the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Maruti and Toyota 7-seater SUVs. The Kia Sorento and Hyundai’s upcoming 7-seater hybrid SUV (codenamed Ni1i) will rival the three-row Duster with their hybrid powertrains.
Tata Nexon Rival SUV

The production-ready Renault Bridger will be positioned against the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and other sub-4 metre SUVs. The lineup is reported to feature a new 1.2L petrol naturally aspirated and 1.2L turbo petrol engine options. Similar to the new Duster and its three-row version, the Bridger will underpin the new RGMP platform.
