Do you want an MLA or a newcomer staging drama, says CM M K Stalin

CHENNAI: “Do you want an MLA who will come running in response to your call and live like one among you, or someone who is new to politics and is staging drama,” asked chief minister M K Stalin, in his first, but indirect, reference to TVK leader and actor Vijay, on Saturday.Campaigning in Perambur constituency, where DMK‘s R D Sekar is contesting, the CM said he would only say so much, and that he would never criticize anyone or indulge in low-grade remarks.Earlier, Stalin took Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on a roadshow through the narrow streets of North Chennai. The leaders complimented each other for fighting the BJP-led NDA govt at the Centre tooth and nail and not being cowed down by the BJP’s intimidatory politics. In Pulianthope, Stalin introduced Kejriwal as his “dear brother and fighter”, who was jailed in a fabricated case by the “fascist” BJP govt and prevented from becoming the CM of Delhi for the third term. “He did not give in to their threats and came clean of baseless allegations levelled against him,” Stalin said. He credited Kejriwal for the model school scheme in Tamil Nadu stating it was inspired by Kejriwal’s initiative in Delhi. “School education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and I personally visited schools in Delhi to implement the scheme here,” he said, amid cheering crowds and waving of party flags of all alliance parties, including AAP. Kejriwal called Stalin an “egoless leader” and invited him to visit Delhi again. “He has done a lot of good work for every family in Tamil Nadu, it is very rare to get a chief minister like him,” he said.Referring to NDA as New Delhi Alliance, Kejriwal said that if NDA wins in Tamil Nadu, all the welfare schemes introduced by Stalin will be stopped, just like how the free electricity and water schemes he introduced were stopped by BJP govt in Delhi. He said BJP wants to take control of Tamil Nadu and added that AIADMK will soon be broken into three pieces. “That is how BJP works,” he said.
