Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is all set to introduce its first electric offering in India – the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. The electric midsize SUV will go on sale with the official price announcement scheduled for tomorrow (i.e. 20th January, 2026).
We expect the EV to be priced nearly Rs 19 lakh for the entry-level variant with the smaller battery pack, and going up to Rs 25 lakh for the top variant featuring larger battery pack. The new Toyota EV will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara.
Battery Options & Range
The Urban Cruiser EV is essentially Toyota’s rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, which is set to arrive at showrooms in the coming days. Similar to its donor sibling, this new Toyota EV is expected to come with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options, paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor. While the official performance figures are yet to revealed; however, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is likely to offer a driving range of over 540km per charge.
ADAS & More
As far as safety is concerned, the new Toyota electric SUV is expected to match the e Vitara, which has achieved a 5-start BNCAP (Bharat New Car Assessment Program) safety rating. Its safety suite will include Level 2 ADAS (autonomous driving assistance system), front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, traction control, a 360-degree camera and seven airbags.
Feature-Packed Interior
The cabin layout is expected to largely similar to the e Vitara. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will offer a dual screen setup, featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The info unit will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Other key features will include a 10-way powered driver’s seat, a single-pane fixed glass roof, ambient lighting, sliding and reclining rear seats, leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger and more.
