Fairphone 6+ is now official and coming to the US

Fairphone has today announced its latest smartphone, the Fairphone 6+. It comes with 50% more RAM than the Fairphone 6 at 12GB vs. 8GB, and the newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC. It’s available in a new Cobalt Blue color, along with Forest Green and Horizon Black. These are the only changes from the Fairphone 6.

For the first time ever, a Fairphone device will be officially available in the US, from both Fairphone’s online store and Amazon, with no caveats about it not running Android. You’ll be able to pick one up for $649. In Europe, the price is €649.

It has a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED screen with 1116×2484 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50MP main camera using Sony’s Lytia 700C sensor with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide, a 32MP selfie camera, and a 4,415 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. It runs Android 16 and is promised to receive six major Android updates. The wording on the website is confusing but seems to indicate that the device will get security updates until 2032 or 2033.

The Fairphone 6+’s main claim to fame (identical to that of the Fairphone 6, of course) is that it has 12 user-replaceable parts, of which the USB-C port, battery, display, and back cover are swappable in “under five minutes”. The mics, side buttons, and fingerprint scanner are repair center serviceable, and spare parts are promised to be available until 2033. The handset comes with a five-year warranty.
