Alongside the Pixel 11 series, Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch 5 at its Made by Google event. While it retains much of the design of its predecessor, the new smartwatch introduces improved health tracking features and comes with Gemini Intelligence built in.
Like its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 5 is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with both Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants.
It also retains the same round AMOLED display, which offers a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits.
Same as last year, the new smartwatch continues to be equipped with the Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 2 chipset. Google has, however, upgraded the storage on the new Watch 5 to 64GB from 32GB.
The Pixel Watch 5 also gets slightly larger batteries. The 41mm model packs a 332mAh cell, while the 45mm variant houses a 465mAh battery. For comparison, the Pixel Watch 4 featured 325mAh and 455mAh batteries in the respective sizes.
On the software side, the Pixel Watch 5 ships with Wear OS 7 and comes with Gemini Intelligence built in, which Google describes as a “personal, proactive assistant.”
Pixel Watch 5 (41mm)
The new smartwatch brings improved health tracking and is claimed to offer the most accurate sleep tracking yet on a Pixel Watch. Other health and connectivity features include loss of pulse detection, SpO2 monitoring, ECG, skin temperature tracking, Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and UWB.
The Pixel Watch 5 also features built-in GPS for fitness tracking and carries IP68 and 5ATM ratings for dust and water resistance.
Pixel Watch 5 (45mm)
The 41mm model will be available in Matte Black, Polished Silver, Champagne Gold, and Satin Pyrite finishes, while the 45mm variant comes in all but the Champagne Gold option. You can also choose from various bands alongside a Stephen Curry special edition band.
The Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399 (€419) for the 41mm Wi-Fi-only model, while the LTE variant is priced at $499 (€519). The larger 45mm version starts at $429 (€449) for the Wi-Fi-only model, with the LTE option costing $529 (€549).
