Google has announced Game Trials in Google Play Games. As the name implies, this feature lets you try out the full version of a paid title for free, and if you like it, you can easily purchase it and pick up where you left off, since your progress is carried over. Game Trials will be rolling out soon to select paid games on mobile, and will eventually also make it to Google Play Games for PC.
What’s more, on select paid games, you can buy the title once and have access to both the mobile and PC versions of the game. “Buy once, play anywhere”, Google says. This is already rolling out to the Reigns series, OTTTD, and Dungeon Crawler.
Google is also introducing Community Posts for “dozens of popular games” in English, with “more languages and games coming soon”. This gives you “a dedicated space to swap tips and tricks, all within Google Play”.
From today, you can use Sidekick “with select paid games downloaded from Play”. This is “a helpful in-game overlay that curates relevant gaming information and gives you AI-generated Game Tips, so you can stay in the game”, according to Google.
Finally, the company also says it’s expanding its catalog of games to include more paid titles. Over the coming months, expect “the most anticipated indie games” to land on Google Play: Moonlight Peaks, Sledding Game, and Low-Budget Repairs. These will work across both mobile and PC, with synced progress of course.
