Honda Amaze BNCAP 5-Star Safety Rating Result Explained


The third-generation Honda Amaze has achieved a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program), applicable to all six variants. It has scored 5 stars in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 4 stars in child occupant protection (COP). Following the Dzire, the Amaze is now the second subcompact sedan to receive full safety rating.

The tested model was equipped with 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchors and seat belt reminder as standard safety features. The blind spot monitoring system and a rear parking camera are offered from the mid-level variant, while the advanced ADAS suite is exclusively to the top-end trim.

Adult Occupant Protection Results

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Honda Amaze provided ‘Good’ protection to the head and neck of both driver and front passenger, while chest protection was rate ‘Adequate’. Protection for the pelvis region protection of both occupants and the driver’s feet was also rated ‘Good’. However, it offered ‘Adequate’ protection for the tibias of both occupants.

In the side pole and the side movable deformation barrier tests, the Amaze managed to offered ‘Good’ protection to all the critical body parts of the driver, while upper chest protection was rated ‘Marginal’.

Child Occupant Protection Results

The Honda Amaze impressed in the child occupant protection tests as well, offering ‘Good’ head protection to both the18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies seated in rearward-facing positions. The sedan scored a full score 12/12 in CRS installation and a full dynamic score; however, its overall vehicle assessment score wasn’t impressive.

Prices & Engine

At present, the Honda Amaze is available within the price range of Rs 7.41 lakh – Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). For power, the sedan uses a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol engine, pushing out power worth 90bhp and 110Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
