Ever had to grant permissions you don’t really want to give a certain app to use it? For instance, when you are asked to give access to your call history or messages just to be able to use a fitness app. Well, Honor has a solution for that and calls it Virtual Permissions.
Virtual Permissions is a feature coming to MagicOS devices this month that allows you to grant blank permissions to apps you don’t trust. When enabled for select apps in the settings menu, the system will give empty data – blank call logs, messages, false camera access, etc.
Since Honor is doing this on a low-system level, we don’t see why it wouldn’t work with essentially all apps. MagicOS will spoof the app in question, so you can still use it without giving any of your personal data away. The feature comes with MagicOS 10.0.0.160, which is already being distributed to eligible Honor phones.
Notably, the feature was announced on Weibo for the Chinese MagicOS users, but we don’t see why Honor won’t deliver the novelty to its global smartphones.
