The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design has been unveiled in China with a redesign and an inward-folding hinge design. It also features a privacy display, an all new Kirin 9050 Pro chipset, and runs HarmonyOS 7.
Huawei’s latest tri-folding smartphone sports a 6.5-inch OLED LTPO cover display with a Full-HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 6,500 nits peak brightness.
On the inside, it gets a 10.2-inch OLED 90Hz LTPO panel that has a 3K resolution and a 12.8:9 aspect ratio. The inner panel also features a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra-like hardware privacy-screen.
The Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design is powered by a new Kirin 9050 Pro chipset that is claimed to be over 42% faster than the SoC on the Mate XTs. It also features an improved NPU and GPU.
Unlike the Mate XTs and the XT, the new Mate XT 2 has its rear camera setup on the center panel. The setup includes a 50MP RYYB LOFIC main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor size, a 50MP RYYB periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 40MP RYYB ultrawide camera. It also gets a third-gen Red Maple color sensor.
For selfies, the phone features an 8MP camera on the internal as well as cover screen.
Huawei has packed a 5,600mAh battery on the Mate XT 2 that supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The tri-folding phone gets a new G-shaped hinge and has an IP58/IP59 rating as well. According to the company, the cover screen uses basalt glass for improved drop and scratch resistance compared to before.
You’ll also find a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and touch sensitive buttons on both edges that can record your ECG.
The Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design is 3.5mm thin when fully unfolded and 12.3mm thick when folded. It weighs 299g and also supports the M-Pen 3 stylus.
Connectivity options include 5G, dual 4G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 LE, GPS, satellite communication, NFC, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port.
