Huawei just announced its new Pura 90s phones – the Pura 90s Pro and the Pura 90s Pro Max. Two very similar phones but for slightly different crowds. Of course, the Pro Max gives you all the top-end features while the 90s Pro comes in a more compact footprint with minimal trade-offs. We already did a detailed hands-on of the Pura 90s Pro Max showing what the camera system is capable of.
The most notable difference between the two devices is the display size. The Pura 90s Pro gets a 6.6-inch screen, but doesn’t skimp on the features. Just like the Pura 90s Pro Max’s display, the smaller one is LTPO and supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
The 90s Pro makes use of the latest Kirin 9030S chipset, which we will make sure to test out when we get our hands on one, as it’s Huawei’s latest and greatest. What’s more, the Pura 90s Pro and Pro Max are the first Huawei phones that ship outside of China with 5G connectivity ever since the company got sanctioned.
The cameras on the back are, as usual, one of the centerpiece features. The unconventional camera bump houses a 50MP main shooter with a big 1/1.28″ sensor, a 50MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and a 12.5MP ultrawide camera. The Pro Max takes things up a notch with a 200MP telephoto unit and a more advanced 40MP ultrawide shooter.
A 6,000 mAh battery keeps the lights on, although Europeans get a smaller 5,500 mAh due to strict import regulations. In either case, the batteries support up to 66W fast wired charging and 50W wireless.
After many years of stagnation, the global units get Huawei’s EMUI based on Android 16, leaving the dated Android 12 behind.
As you have probably already noticed, the Pura 90s Pro comes in fresh new color gradients and a frame that matches the back’s gradient. You can choose between Guava Soda, Coconut White, Orange Soda and Mulberry Black.
