Hyundai i20 Hits 15 Lakh Sales Milestone in India After 18 Years


The Hyundai i20 premium hatchback has achieved a cumulative sales milestone of 1.5 million in India. Since its debut in 2008, the i20 has consistently been favoured for its modern design, advanced technology, superior quality and comprehensive safety features. The hatchback lineup is currently available within the price range of Rs 6 lakh – Rs 10.48 lakh, while the sportier i20 N Line is priced between Rs 9.27 lakh – Rs 11.74 lakh (all, ex-showroom).

The Hyundai i20 is currently available with an 83bhp, 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT). The i20 N Line comes equipped with a 1.0l Turbo GDi petrol engine, which can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

New-Gen Hyundai i20 – Is It Coming to India?

The fourth-generation Hyundai i20 recently made its global debut in Brazil. However, the carmaker is yet to announce its launch plans for the Indian market.

Built on the new K3 platform, the next-gen hatchback receives significant design changes and feature upgrades over the old model. The standard feature kit includes a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-speaker audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, OTA (over-the-air) software updates, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, wireless smartphone charging, driver’s seat height adjustment and LED headlamps and DRLs.

The global-spec new Hyundai i20 has been equipped with Hyundia’s SmartSense ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, reserved for the higher trims. Standard safety features such as six airbags, a reverse camera, hill start assist, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system.
