Hyundai India starts FY27 strong with 9% sales growth in May: Details

Hyundai Motor India reported domestic sales of 47,837 units in May 2026, registering a 9.1 per cent year-on-year increase. Exports stood at 13,300 units, taking the company’s total sales for the month to 61,137 units, up 4.1 per cent compared to May 2025. The automaker also recorded growth in the first two months of FY27. Domestic sales during April and May reached 99,739 units, an increase of 13 per cent over the 88,235 units sold during the same period last financial year.The latest figures indicate that Hyundai has maintained its growth trajectory in the Indian market. Domestic volumes were close to the 48,000-unit mark, while exports contributed more than 13,000 units during the month. With positive momentum at the start of FY27, Hyundai continues to strengthen its presence in the passenger vehicle segment as it prepares for future product introductions and business expansion.Commenting on May 2026 sales results, Mr Tarun Garg, MD & CEO – HMIL, said: “Hyundai Motor India has continued its strong momentum of the year into May as well, achieving domestic sales of 47,837 units with 9.1% YoY growth and total sales of 61,137 units with 4.1% YoY growth. In the first two months (April and May) of FY27, HMIL witnessed domestic sales rise by 13% to 99,739 units, compared to 88,235 units in the same period of FY26.”The significant share of Hyundai’s volumes continues to come from its SUV range, which spans multiple segments including Creta, Alcazar, Venue and Exter. Looking ahead, the carmaker is preparing to broaden its product portfolio with new launches, including electrified offerings that are expected to play a larger role in its long-term growth plans for India.
