iPhone Fold will reportedly offer iPad-like UI on inner display

Apple’s foldable iPhone is rumored to launch later this year with a wide inner display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared new details about the software experience on Apple’s upcoming foldable.

According to Gurman, the upcoming iPhone Fold will bring several iOS improvements, including multitasking features inspired by iPadOS.

The foldable’s inner display is expected to support ‘iPad-like layouts’ and side-by-side apps. The report adds that the inner screen will be roughly the same size as an iPad mini, prompting Apple to develop new iOS app layouts and navigation elements, such as iPad-style sidebars.

However, the device will not support windowed multitasking like the iPad, nor will it run iPad apps. Despite the larger display and tablet-style interface, the foldable will still run iOS, with Gurman noting that it will feature simpler multitasking elements rather than the full desktop-like interface seen in iPadOS 26.

According to the report, the iPhone Fold will use a new display technology designed to significantly reduce the crease on the inner screen while also improving durability. The device is also expected to feature a hole-punch camera on the cover display.

The foldable is further said to include a dual rear camera setup, a hole-punch camera on the inner display, and a Touch ID sensor integrated into the power button. A recent rumor also suggests that Apple may brand its first foldable as the iPhone Ultra.
