Kia Seltos, which entered its second generation earlier this year, is now set to go hybrid in India. While the carmaker has confirmed its launch, the exact timeline and details are yet to be revealed. However, reports suggest that the Kia Seltos hybrid will make its way sometime in 2027.
Globally, the next-generation Seltos will be introduced in the US market by mid-2026, followed by the hybrid version towards the end of the same year. This indicates that the first official images of the Seltos hybrid could surface by late 2026.

Hybrid Powertrain Details
It’s important to note that the US-spec Kia Seltos hybrid is expected to feature a 1.6L petrol-hybrid powertrain. This setup, which currently powers the Kia Niro, delivers a maximum power of 141PS and 264Nm of torque. It will get a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and an eAWD (all-wheel drive) system. However, the India-bound model is likely to get an electrified version of the 1.5L petrol engine. The unit is likely to be paired with either a single or dual electric motors and a battery pack.
Locally-Sourced Components
The 1.5L petrol hybrid powertrain is expected to comprise of several locally sourced components such as battery packs, inverters and electric motors. Heavy localisation will help the carmaker keep costs in check and achieve competitive pricing in the segment.
Competition
With a strong hybrid powertrain, the Kia Seltos hybrid will take directly on the Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming hybrid versions of the Renault Duster and the next-generation Hyundai Creta.
Kia Sorento-Based 7-Seater SUV
Kia India is likely to use the 1.5L petrol-hybrid powertrain for its forthcoming three-row SUV, which will be based on the Kia Sorento. Codenamed MQ4i, the 7-seater SUV is likely to share design language, features and components with the global-spec Sorento.
The Sorento measures 4810mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1695mm in height. The India-bound Kia Sorento-based SUV is expected to carry an upright stance and offer a commanding road presence.
