At its 2025 Investor Day, the South Korean confirmed the Kia Seltos hybrid midsize SUV for the Indian market. While the carmaker did not reveal an exact launch timeline, the model is expected to arrive sometime in 2027. Based on the new-gen model, the India-bound version might feature a 1.5L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with one or more electric motors and a battery pack.
The same hybrid powertrain will also power the upcoming Kia Sorento based three-row premium SUV, which is planned for an India launch in late 2026.
Here’re the first spy images of the upcoming Kia Seltos hybrid SUV from South Korea. The spotted model appears similar to the US-spec ICE-powered Seltos and features an HEV badge on the tailgate. It’s equipped with a 1.6L petrol engine, paired with an automatic gearbox, delivering power worth 141PS and 264Nm of torque.

Local Sourcing For Hybrid Powertrain
Aiming to achieve competitive pricing, the South Korean automaker is likely to heavily localise components for its 1.5L petrol-hybrid powertrain. This will include locally-sourced electric motors, inverters, battery packs and other key components.
Kia 7-Seater Hybrid SUV For India
Codenamed MQ4i, the new Kia 7-seater hybrid SUV will be based on the Sorento, and manufactured at the brand’s Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh. It will serve as Kia’s answer to the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai’s 7-seater hybrid SUVs.
The global-spec Kia Sorento measures 4810mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1695mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2815mm and a ground clearance of 176mm. The India-bound 7-seater premium SUV is expected to be similar in size, with an upright and wider stance that should offer a commanding road presence.
Key highlights are expected to include dual digital displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, leather upholstery, wireless charging, Bose sound system, USB-C ports, heated/ventilated seats, Digital Key 2.0, surround view monitor, ABS, multiple airbags, electronic stability control, Level 2 ADAS suite, vehicle stability management and more.
