Kia India is on a roll. The South Korean automaker recently launched the Syros EV at a starting price of Rs 13.50 lakh. Following the launch of its most affordable electric SUV, Kia will introduce its flagship three-row hybrid SUV – the Sorento. Unofficial bookings for the 7-setear have already been commenced across select Kia dealerships ahead of its launch by the end of September, 2026.
According to leaked information, the Kia Sorento will be available with two powertrain options – diesel and hybrid. While Kia is yet reveal official details, the 7-seater SUV is expected to feature an electrified version of its tried-and-tested 1.5-litre petrol engine.
In global markets, the Sorento is offered with a more powerful 1.6-litre turbocharged GDi petrol hybrid engine and 2.2L CRDi turbo diesel engine options. The SUV lineup comes with two transmission options – a 6-speed automatic and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic, along with both FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) configurations.
As per leaked information, the India-spec Kia Sorento will be available with both 6 and 7-seat configuration options. The 6-seater version offers captain chair in the middle row, while the 7-seater variant features a bench-type seat. The leaked scan also mentions that the hybrid SUV will offer “powerful hybrid performance” and “excellent fuel efficiency”.
The interior layout and features of the India-bound Kia Sorento are expected to be identical to those of the global-spec model. This means, it’s likely to offer features dual 12.3-inch panoramic curved displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Kia Connect connected car tech, built-in navigation, OTA software updates, wireless phone charger, USB Type-C charging ports for all row, Bose sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, HUD, terrain modes and more.
On the safety front, the Kia Sorento is likely to be equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control system, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, 360-degree surround-view camera, rear cross traffic collision avoidance and a Level 2 ADAS.
