The all-new Kia Sorento three-row SUV has been caught on camera during its test rounds in India for the very first time. It will be one of the first hybrid models planned by the South Korean automaker, and is expected to arrive sometime next year. If launched, the 2026 Kia Sorento will be positioned above the Seltos, which is due for a generation change in early 2026.
What did spy images reveal?
The spotted test mule was heavily camouflage; however, its signature boxy and upright stance was clearly visible. The SUV features Kia’s Tiger Nose grille, T-shaped LED DRLs, a raised bonnet, squared-off pronounced wheel arches, 19-inch alloy wheels shod with 235/55 R19 tyres, a flat tailgate and connected taillamps. The global-spec Sorento measures 4.8 metres in length and has a wheelbase of 2,800mm.

While the official interior details and features are yet to be revealed, the India-spec version is likely to come with the same set of goodies available on the global-spec model. Expected highlights include a panoramic curved screen setup, dual zone automatic climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging pad, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, UD, hill start assist, ESC, 360 degree camera, multiple airbags, and more. The glimpse of a rotary dial gear selector inside the cabin confirms it’s the hybrid variant.
2026 Kia Sorento Hybrid Powertrain
In global markets, the new Sorento is available with multiple engine options including a 1.6L turbo petrol-hybrid, a 1.6L plug-in hybrid, a 2.5L petrol and a 2.5L turbo petrol. Kia India is likely to hybridize its tried-and-tested 1.5L petrol engine for the upcoming new-gen Kia Seltos and 2026 Kia Sorento. The hybrid Seltos is expected to arrive in 2027, while the Sorento is likely to become the brand’s first hybrid model in India.

The 2026 Kia Sorento in India is expected to be priced around Rs 35 lakh onwards. When launched, it will take on the SUVs like Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.
