Kia Syros EV Nears Launch in India: Affordable Price, Premium Features?

Kia India is gearing to launch its first mass-market electric vehicle (EV) by mid-2026 – the Kia Syros EV. Ahead of its market arrival, the model has been undergoing extensive testing and has been caught on camera several times. In terms of pricing and positioning, the EV will take directly on the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 400, which are currently available within the price range of Rs 12.49 lakh – Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh – Rs 17.69 lakh, respectively.

EV Design Elements

Spy images reveal that the Kia Syros EV will retain the signature tall and boxy stance. Unlike the Kia Carens Clavis EV which features a front-mounted charging port, this compact EV will have its charging port located on the front left quarter panels. Design elements such as a closed-off grille and aero-optimized alloy wheels with squared-off wheel arches will further differentiate it from its ICE counterpart. No dimensional changes are expected.

Premium Interior

Similar to its ICE version, the Syros EV is expected to offer a best-in-segment cabin experience. However, a few EV-specific changes could be made including revised instrument graphics and software, new trims and upholstery. Most features will be carried over from its ICE counterpart including a dual screen display, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, air purifier with AQI display, dual camera dashcam, 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and more.

2 Battery Options?

The Kia Syros EV could be offered with the two battery options, 42kWh and 49kWh, borrowed from the global-spec Hyundai Inster EV. The smaller battery version is expected to offer a range of around 300km, while the larger battery variant might promise around 400km per charge.

Price Expectations

Considering its positioning and competition, the Kia Syros EV is expected to cost between Rs 14 lakh for the entry-level variant and nearly Rs 20 lakh for the top-end trim. If launched within this price bracket, it will become the brand’s most affordable EV in the country.
