Leaked Redmi Note 17 Pro Max details promise a new chipset, a bigger battery and faster charging

Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 17 series with two models – the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro – for the Chinese market in mid-July. Later, it brought the vanilla model to India. However, the company also has global models in the works, which will feature slightly different hardware.

The specs for the global models leaked last month. In summary, they will have slightly smaller batteries than the China/India models, they will get an 8MP ultra-wide camera (the ultra-wide was completely omitted from the China/India models) and their selfie cameras will be upgraded with 16MP sensors (up from 8MP).

There is a third model on the way, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. It will be similar to the global Redmi Note 17 Pro with a 6.83” display (1,280 x 2,772px, 120Hz, 3,500 nits, GG Victus 2). However, the selfie camera that resides within the display will have a higher resolution 32MP sensor. The rear cameras should be the same with a 50MP main and an 8MP ultra-wide. That said, we haven’t seen details on sensor size, so we may be surprised.

Anyway, the “Max” model will earn its title with a larger 9,210mAh battery with 100W fast charging. This is up from the expected 8,340mAh capacity for the global Note 17 Pro and it is higher than even the 9,000mAh capacity of the Chinese Pro. Both the global and Chinese Pro also have slower 67W charging, so that will be another win for the Max. By the way, the vanilla Note 17 has a huge 7” screen but a smaller 8,000mAh (China/India) or 7,700mAh (global).

The Max is expected to measure 163.4 x 78.3 x 8.6mm and weigh 230g, making it a hair thicker and heavier than the Chinese Note 17 Pro (8.5mm, 226g).

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset – we’ve seen as much in a Geekbench result for the Xiaomi 2609FRA74G (which should be the global Pro Max). The tested unit featured 8GB of RAM, though a 12GB model is expected. The chipset will also be paired with 128/256/512GB of storage (UFS 2.1 for 128GB, UFS 4.0 for the other variants). The phone ran Android 16.
