Mahindra Confirms 2026 Updates For Its 2 Best-Selling SUVs


Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that it will launch refreshed versions of two of its popular SUVs in calendar year 2026. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the product names, recent sightings suggest that these models will be the Mahindra Scorpio N facelift and updated Thar 3-door. Both SUVs are expected to receive minimal upgrades inside and out, while retaining their engine setups.

Rajesh Jejurikar, CEO – Auto & Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “So we had said three ICE SUVs, two BEVs and two LCVs. The new nameplate out of that was the (XUV) 7XO, which is done. Refreshes which we had not indicated in the three were the Bolero and Bolero Neo – that’s got done, and two more refreshes, not new nameplates, are expected to be launched in the calendar year 2026. The BEVs we had two, one is the (XEV) 9S the other is the BE 6 Formula E Edition.”

Spy images reveal that the updated Scorpio N will feature a slightly revised grille with horizontally slats, a redesigned air dam along with revised front and rear bumpers and newly-designed 5-spoke alloy wheels. At the back, the SUV might spot new LED taillamps signatures.

Comprehensive changes will be made inside the cabin. The new Mahindra Scorpio N will come with a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system (sourced from the Thar Roxx), repositioned AC vents, a redesigned centre console with new stain silver surround and a new digital driver’s display.

Mechanically, the SUV will continue to use the 203bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and 175bhp, 2.2L diesel engines. The 4X4 drivetrain system will remain exclusive to the diesel trims. Similar to the new Mahindra XUV 7XO, the updated Scorpio N could be equipped with the ‘DaVinci’ dampers.

New 2026 Mahindra Thar 3-Door

The highly-popular Mahindra Thar 3-Door lifestyle off-road SUV is all set to for yet another facelift. This time, the model will derive its design inspiration from the Thar Roxx. It will feature circular LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, a revised grille, 19-inch alloy wheels and updated LED taillamp signature.

While official details are yet to be revealed, the 2026 Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift is likely to receive ventilated front seats, auto folding ORVMs, automatic climate control, auto dimming IRVM, a wireless charging pad and a Level 2 ADAS suite.

Under the hood, the new Thar 3-door is expected to retain the existing engine options – 152bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol, 119bhp, 1.5L diesel and 132hbp, 2.2L diesel. The petrol variant will continue to come with an optional 4WD system, while the more powerful diesel trim will get 4WD as standard.
