Mahindra & Mahindra registered total sales of 75,901 units in August 2025 as opposed to 75,883 units in the same month last year. In the domestic market, the carmaker sold 39,399 SUV units, posting a year-on-year (YoY) sales decline of 9 percent. However, the company recorded a 12 percent YoY growth in the commercial vehicle segment with 32,954 units sold. Exports also increased by 16 percent to 3,548 units.

The decline in SUV sales is attributed to the upcoming GST reforms as customers are adopting a wait-and-watch approach. Mahindra, however, expects the festive season will boost demand and drive higher showroom footfalls.
Official Statement:
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said: “August witnessed relatively robust demand in the SUV segment amidst anticipated GST rate changes. This month, Mahindra reported 7.4% YoY growth in PV Vahan registrations. In our commercial vehicles segment, Vahan registrations grew by 16% YoY (<7.5T LCV category). With the final GST announcement approaching, we consciously decided to bring down the wholesale billing to minimize the stock being carried by our dealers. We look forward to the GST rationalisation, which would be a demand driver through the festive season. Total vehicle sales stood at 75,901 units, marking a flat growth compared to the same period last year, with SUV sales of 39,399 units recording -9% YoY decline.”
Mahindra’s Upcoming SUVs
The homegrown automaker has planned several new SUVs for India, arriving by the end of 2026. The plan outlines three facelifts (Thar 3-door, XUV700 and Scorpio N), a new born-electric SUV, next-generation Bolero and Bolero EV along with the XUV 3XO hybrid and EV. The updated Mahindra Thar is likely to go on sale in the coming months, while the XUV700 and Scorpio N facelifts are expected to launch in early 2026.
The Mahindra XEV 7e will reach showrooms towards the end of this year. It will essentially be the three-row version of the XEV 9e, sharing its powertrains, platform, features and design elements. Mahindra’s top-selling Bolero EV will enter in its next generation in 2026. The carmaker might also introduce an all-new strong hybrid powertrain with the XUV 3XO.
