Mahindra’s New Creta Rival SUV – What to Expect?

Mahindra & Mahindra has multiple new products in the pipeline including ICE-powered and electric SUVs across various segments. The homegrown automaker also aims to tap into the highly competitive midsize SUV segment, which is currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta. While Mahindra hasn’t yet revealed specific plans or product details, it’s expected to be a new XUV-braded SUV based on the company’s new modular NU_IQ platform. This architecture is compatible with ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid and electric powertrains.

Mahindra’s new Creta rival SUV could be the production version the Vision S concept or heavily based on it, which was showcased on this year’s Independence Day. Reports also suggest that the production-ready Mahindra Vision S might join the Scorpio family lineup.

Mahindra Vision S Concept – A Recap

Mahindra Vision S COncept

The Vision S concept features the brand’s signature Twin Peaks logo at the front with triple vertically stacked LEDs on either side. It also gets inverted L-shaped headlamps, a sporty bumper with a radar unit and parking sensors, raised bonnet and pixel-shaped fog lamps.

The side profile appears off-road ready with high stance, massive cladding under the doors and wheel arches, 19-inch rubber hugs wheels with red callipers and disc brakes, a jerry can on the right and a stepladder on the kerb side. Some of these styling elements could be removed from the production model or offered as accessories. At the back, the Vision S concept sports inverted L taillamps, rear bumper with pixel lights and a tailgate mounted spare wheel.

Inside, the Mahindra Vision S concept offers a new steering wheel with the ‘VISION S’ lettering in its centre, a central touchscreen supporting NU UX software and wireless smartphone connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, dual-tone upholstery on seats, door trims and dashboard.

The concept features a fuel cap indicating an ICE powertrain. Mahindra’s Creta rival SUV could be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The production-ready Mahindra Vision S is expected to arrive in 2027.
