Maruti Suzuki India witnessed strong demand for the CNG vehicles in May 2026, with sales reaching 78,000 units and posting a 40% growth. The Maruti WagonR hatchback emerged as a major sales contributor in the entry-level hatchback segment, while the Victoris CNG generated significant volumes in the midsize SUV category.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Sales & Marketing, MSIL, said that customers have increasingly started opting for greener mobility solutions, especially after the Prime Minister’s announcement to converse fuel.
He revealed that demand for CNG vehicles has increased by 1.4 times compared to earlier levels. CNG vehicles are favoured for their lower running cost and better fuel economy than the conventional ICE-powered vehicles, making them affordable choices for daily commuting purposes.
Maruti eVitara Demand Doubles

The Maruti eVitara recorded nearly 4,000 bookings, an increase by two-folds over April 2026. The Nexa-exclusive electric SUV was introduced in February 2026 and had recorded around 2,000 bookings in April. The carmaker sold nearly 54,000 SUVs last month, marking a significant 57% growth.
Strong Demand For SUVs
The Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara continue to be the major volume generators in the midsize SUV segment, while the Fronx is consistently witnessing a strong demand in the compact crossover category.
Production Capacity Expansion
The carmaker further revealed that Maruti Suzuki’s Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana started operations on May 18, 2026. With the new plant now running, the company’s annual production capacity has increased by an additional 2.5 lakh units.
Network Expansion
Maruti Suzuki registered a significant 55% growth in rural markets in May 2026, thanks to GST 2.0. In FY2025-2026, the carmaker expanded its network with a record 502 new service touchpoints. This took its total service network to 5,926 touchpoints across 3,000 cities and towns nationwide
In May 2026, Maruti Suzuki posted its highest-ever monthly sales of 242,688 units including 193, 535 units sold in the domestic market.
