Maruti Fronx Spied With BIG Upgrades

Maruti Suzuki Fronx is getting ready to receive significant upgrade in the near future. The latest spy images show the compact crossover featuring a hybrid badge, a roof rack mounted sensor and an additional mechanism on the rear axle. This suggests that the updated model will come with a hybrid powertrain, an ADAS (autonomous driver assistance system) suite, and could also offer an AWD (all-wheel drive) system. Let’s discuss each update in detail.

New Maruti Fronx Hybrid

The Indo-Japanese automaker has been working on its own series-hybrid powertrain (codenamed HEV), which will be introduced in 2027. The Fronx will reportedly be the first model to receive this new strong hybrid system. It will feature a 1.2L Z12, 3-cylinder petrol engine, paired with an electric motor and a battery pack ranging between 1.5kWh-2kWh.

New Maruti Fronx Hybrid

Maruti Suzuki’s hybrid setup is said to be more efficient and economical than Toyota’s Atkinson hybrid powertrain currently used in the Victoris, Grand Vitara and Invicto. Reports suggest that the brand’s new strong hybrid powertrain could deliver a fuel efficiency of over 35kmpl.

New Maruti Fronx ADAS

The updated Fronx will offer ADAS safety features, which might include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning system, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert and high beam assist. The compact crossover could also be offered with a 360-degree camera.

New Maruti Fronx AWD

The mechanism spotted on the rear axle could indicate the introduction of an AWD system on the compact crossover. For those unaware, the Fronx AWD version is already on sale in Japan and Europe. The AWD setup will be similar to the one offered on the Grand Vitara, which is designed for light off-roading purposes rather than proper 4X4 use.

What’s More?

The overall exterior styling and cabin layout are expected to remain largely unchanged. However, the addition of new features and mechanical upgrades is likely to make the updated Fronx more expensive than the current model.
