Major Mechanical Updates

The Maruti WagonR flex fuel is fully complaint with E85 fuel, which means the hatchback can run on an 85% ethanol and 15% petrol blend fuel. Its fuel system components such as injectors, seals and pipes are ethanol-resistant. The 1.2L, four-cylinder petrol engine’s EUC (engine control unit) has also been tuned to handle E85 fuel. However, the exact performance figures are still under wraps.

Expected Prices

Considering these component and mechanical upgrades, the Maruti WagonR flex fuel is expected to command a slight premium over the standard model. The petrol-powered WagonR is currently available within the price range of Rs 4.99 – Rs 6.95 (ex-showroom).

Design Highlights

The overall design and styling of the Maruti WagonR Flex Fuel are identical to the standard model. However, it features blue and black graphics on the side profile along with blacked-out alloy wheels.

Availability of E85 Fuel

The availability of the E85 fuel will remain a challenge for buyers. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has stated that the government will initially set up 50 to 100 E85 dispensing stations in the Delhi-NCR and Mumbai-Pune-Nagpur corridor.

The number of stations will be increased to 500 by the end of this year and nearly 5000 stations across major cities by the end of 2027.
