Maurti Suzuki has planned several new product launches over the next three years, including seven SUVs. Following a multi-powertrain strategy, the Indo-Japanese will expand its hybrid, electric, CNG and ICE (internal combustion engine) lineup. Currently, Maruti Suzuki has a single electric offering, the eVitara, which will soon be joined by a new three-row MPV, codenamed YMC. The model is expected to debut by the end of this year and go on sale early next year.
Smallest & Cheapest
The upcoming Maruti YMC will be the brand’s smallest and most affordable 7-seater model in the country. With an estimated price of around Rs 14 lakh for the base variant, the model will target wider audience. The Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental programme will further reduce its initial ownership cost. Toyota will also introduce its own derivative of the YMC at a later stage.
Battery Packs & Range
While official details of the upcoming Maruti 7-seater electric MPV are still under the wraps, it’s expected to share the 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs with the eVitara. Both battery packs are likely to be paired with a front-mounted motor and a FWD (front-wheel drive) system. The MPV is expected to deliver a driving range of over 500km on a single charge.
Design Highlights
The upcoming Maruti 7-seater MPV is currently undergoing testing, and frequent sightings have revealed several design details. The EV will feature a tall and boxy stance along with eVitara-inspired front bumper with air intakes and aero-optimized alloy wheels. However, the vertically stacked taillamps wrapped around the rear windscreen could be borrowed from the Maruti Ertiga.
Interior & Features
In terms of features, the Maruti YMC is expected to offer a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a premium sound system, auto dimming IRVM, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, multiple airbags, hill hold control and many more.
