New Zealand have named a 16-man squad for their upcoming five-match ODI series against the West Indies, with fast bowler Matt Fisher receiving his maiden one-day international call-up and Jacob Duffy returning to the national setup after missing the recent England Test tour. The series begins in Guyana on July 11, with the BLACKCAPS looking to build on their historic 2022 tour of the Caribbean, when they claimed their first-ever ODI series victory in the West Indies.

Fisher rewarded, Duffy back after family break

Northern Districts pacer Fisher has been rewarded for his impressive domestic performances after claiming 43 wickets in 25 List A matches at an average of 26. The 26-year-old has already represented New Zealand in one Test against Zimbabwe in August 2025 and one T20I against Bangladesh in April this year, but is yet to make his ODI debut.Duffy, meanwhile, returns to international cricket for the first time since the ICC T20 World Cup final in March. The reigning Sir Richard Hadlee Medal winner was unavailable for the England Test series after the birth of his first child.New Zealand head coach Rob Walter welcomed both seamers back into the squad.“It’s great to have Jacob and Matt joining the group and I know they’ll bring a lot of energy and excitement,” Walter said.“It’s a nice opportunity to introduce Matt to the ODI group for the first time. He bowls with good pace and has been working hard on his variations to ensure he can bowl at different stages of the innings.”Praising Duffy’s return, Walter added: “Jacob has been a stand-out for us in all formats for the past couple of years. His skills and experience will be a great addition to our squad and I know he’s looking forward to representing New Zealand again.”

Experienced core retained despite notable absentees

Mitchell Santner will continue to lead the side, while Tom Latham returns as wicketkeeper. The spin department also features Michael Bracewell, Jayden Lennox and Dean Foxcroft.Lennox earns another overseas opportunity after impressing during his debut international series against India earlier this year, while Bracewell and Mark Chapman add nearly 250 international appearances of experience to the squad.New Zealand will, however, be without several key players. Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry and Will O’Rourke have been rested following a heavy workload, while Blair Tickner is unavailable as he undergoes ankle surgery.Devon Conway has been granted leave following the birth of his second child, while Rachin Ravindra will miss the tour as part of a pre-arranged agreement with New Zealand Cricket to participate in Major League Cricket. The five-match series begins in Guyana on July 11, with the opening three ODIs scheduled for July 11, 13 and 16 before the action shifts to Bridgetown, Barbados, for the final two matches on July 19 and 21. New Zealand will be aiming to replicate the success of their landmark 2022 Caribbean tour and continue building momentum in the 50-over format.
