JSW MG Motor India has released the first official teaser of the upcoming new energy vehicle (NEV) ahead of its official debut on August 26, 2026. The model is expected to be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in China and could be called the MG Hector Hawk in India. It will be the brand’s first production model to be based on its all-new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform), which supports multiple powertrains including electric, strong hybrid, plug-in hybrid and range extender hybrid.
Design Highlights & Dimensions
The teaser reveals the SUV’s silhouette along with a sealed-off grille and an illuminated MG logo at the front. Similar to the China-spec Starlight 560, the MG Hector Hawk is expected to feature an aggressive-looking front fascia with an angular stance, rectangular LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a sporty bumper with thick cladding at the lower section and a faux skid plate.
Other design highlights are expected to include dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, thick black cladding around the wheel arches, LED taillamps and a boxy tailgate design. Dimensionally, the new MG SUV is likely to be similar in size to the Wuling Starlight 560, which measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,810mm.
Seating Capacity & Features
The MG Hector Hawk is expected to be available in both 5 and 7-seat configuration options. Expected features include a 12.8-inch centre touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless phone charger, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, cruise control, and Level 2 ADAS.
Electric & PHEV Powertrain Options
In India, the new MG SUV is expected to be offered with both electric and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The electric version might feature a 69.2kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor. This setup, with a single-speed automatic gearbox, will produce a combined power output of 136bhp.
The MG Hector Hawk PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) is expected to feature a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine mated with an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. It generates a combined power of 197bhp.
