Motorola was one of the first companies to launch a foldable phone, but so far it had restricted itself to flip-style devices. This January at CES the company revealed its first book-style foldable, though it left some details under wraps.
The Motorola Razr Fold still isn’t ready to go on store shelves, but at least now we have an almost complete picture. The Fold will be available in Europe, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific, North and Latin America.
Europe will be the first to get it with pre-orders set to begin on April 13. The phone will be bundled with the new Moto Pen Ultra (more on that in a bit) and will cost a hefty €2,000. You can already see the foldable on Motorola UK, Motorola Germany and other regional sites.
Some of the missing Razr Fold details were the dimensions – those are critical for any foldable. The phone measures 4.55mm thick when opened and 9.89mm when folded. It weighs 243g and is rated IP49. These dimensions are on the hefty side for a 2026 foldable and IP4X is behind the cutting edge too (there are dust-tight IP6X foldables now).

The phone features a 6.6” cover display with a 21:9 aspect ratio (2,520 x 1,080px). This display is a Pantone Validated Color display with 10-bit colors, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It peaks at 6,000 nits and runs at 165Hz refresh rate. For protection, Motorola has selected Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 (note the “Ceramic”, this isn’t GG3).
Inside is an 8.09” main display with a square-ish 8:7.2 aspect ratio (2,484 x 2,232px). This is an LTPO panel that runs at 1-120Hz and it boosts to an even higher brightness of 6,200 nits. It’s also a Pantone Validated panel with Dolby Vision support and 10-bit colors with 100% DCI-P3 coverage.
The Motorola Pen Ultra supports the Razr Ultra as well as the Signature. It has pressure sensitivity and tilt detection while the phones offer palm rejection during use. This stylus can pull up a Quick Access Toolbar, do Quick Clips, use Circle to Search, it also supports the AI-powered Sketch to Image feature. And unlike a certain book-style foldable, the Moto Pen Ultra works on both the outer and inner displays of the Razr Fold.

The earlier announcement left details on the battery blank – now we know that the Razr Fold has a 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired charging and 50W wireless. In some regions, the phone will be bundled with a 90W TurboPower adapter. 5W reverse wireless charging is also available.
The phone is powered by the non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is a bit of an odd choice considering the price and that the Razr 60 Ultra used last year’s Elite chip (unofficially, it looks like the upcoming Razr flip will also skip the Elite this year).

Anyway, the chipset is paired with LPDDR5X RAM, either 12GB or 16GB, and 256GB/512GB/1TB of built-in storage. It runs Android 16 out of the box with the familiar Motorola modifications, now with additional split-screen multitasking features for the large inner display. And yes, the USB-C port is 3.2 Gen 1 with DisplayPort 1.2 for video output and Motorola’s desktop environment.

The Moto Razr Fold has a triple 50MP camera on the back. The main module has a Sony Lytia 828 with 1.22µm pixels and an OIS-enabled f/1.6 lens. The ultra-wide has a 122° f/2.0 lens with autofocus and macro mode. Finally, the periscope module has a Lytia 600 sensor (0.8µm pixels) with a 3x/71mm lens with OIS.
Video recording modes include 8K @ 30fps and 4K @ 60fps. Dolby Vision videos are supported as well. There is a 3-in-1 multi-spectral light sensor on the back too.
There are two selfie cameras on board – a 32MP 0.64µm f/2.4 camera on the outside and a 20MP 0.61µm f/2.4 camera on the inner display.
Other notable specs include stereo speakers tuned by Bose that also feature Dolby Atmos support. There are three microphones on board for noise cancellation too.
