Neha Sharma TROLLED for charging Rs 299 for Instagram subscription; Netizens react

Neha Sharma, best known for her debut in the 2010 film ‘Crook’ opposite Emraan Hashmi, is in the middle of a social media storm after users discovered that she runs a paid Instagram subscription service charging followers Rs 299 per month for exclusive content. With close to 10,000 subscribers already signed up, the actress has generated an estimated Rs 29 lakh in revenue, and reactions online have been sharply divided.

Neha Sharma’s Instagram subscription

For Rs 299 a month, subscribers get access to members-only content on Sharma’s Instagram, including exclusive photos, behind-the-scenes moments, and personal updates. As of now, the Free Press Journal reports that subscription page lists 562 stories, 8 posts, and 23 reels, all locked behind the paywall. With 9,683 active subscribers, the total estimated revenue from the service stands at approximately Rs 28.95 lakh. The exact nature of the content she shares with subscribers, however, remains unknown.

Internet reacts

The subscription model has triggered a heated debate online, with a section of users labeling it “OnlyFans Lite” and questioning why a working actress from a well-known family, whose father, Ajit Sharma, is a politician, would charge fans for content access. Others have criticized subscribers themselves for paying to view the content. Some, however, have defended Neha’s right to monetize her platform, arguing that it is a legitimate digital income stream with clear audience demand.Reactions on X (formerly Twitter) ranged from outright condemnation to resigned acceptance. Several users expressed disappointment, while others acknowledged the commercial logic behind the move.A person commented, “Shameful behaviour, no one should encourage such actions, India is probably the last place such things are encouraged. But things changing sadly.” Another added, “It’s easy money for her. Plus, there is demand for it. It’s sad but it is what it is.” A comment read, “No fu*king way, didn’t expect this from her.”

Neha Sharma is yet to respond

The 38-year-old actress, who has appeared in films such as ‘Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum’, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’, ‘Tum Bin 2’, and ‘Mubarakan’, has not issued any official statement or response to the ongoing controversy.
