New 2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: April Launch, Big Updates

The Volkswagen Taigun has been favoured for its German driving dynamics, strong turbo petrol engines and safety quotient since its launch in 2021. Even without any major update, Volkswagen has kept it relevant through the introduction of new variants, feature upgrades and special editions.

Now, the midsize SUV is now ready to receive its first midlife update in April 2026. While official details of the new 2026 Volkswagen Taigun are yet to be revealed, it’s expected to undergo changes similar to the newly-launched Skoda Kushaq facelift.

Improved Styling

Spy images hint that the new Volkswagen Taigun 2026 facelift will feature a newly-designed grille and headlamp clusters similar to those seen on the VW Tayron SUV. The headlamps will be connected via a LED bar, featuring an illuminated VW logo in the centre.

The front fascia will further be revised with new fog lamps, a tweaked bumper and a large lower air dam with faux skid plates. Other design highlights are expected to include newly-designed alloy wheels, taillamps with updated LED elements and tweaked bumper.

More Features

Interior layout is likely to remain largely unchanged. However, the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to come with additional features such as a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, rear seats with massaging function and a wireless phone charger.

Same TSI Petrol Engines

Under the hood, the new Volkswagen Taigun 2026 facelift is likely to retain the existing 1.0L turbo and 1.5L turbo petrol engines, producing power worth 115bhp and 150bhp, respectively. The smaller capacity engine will get a new 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The 1.5L turbo petrol motor will continue to be offered with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission, similar to the current model.

Rivals & Expected Pricing

A minimal price hike is expected. The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift will continue to face challenge from the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos and other midsize SUVs in the segment.
