VinFast, the Vietnamese EV manufacturer, appears to be expanding its Indian product portfolio with the VF 8 and VF9 electric SUVs, as both have now been patented in India. The Vinfast VF9 is the largest electric offering in the brand’s global lineup and is available in six and seven seating configurations. As of now, there is no official word on its India launch timeline.
Battery, Range & Charging Time
Globally, the Vinfast VF9 electric SUV is available in Eco and Plus trims, featuring a 123kW battery pack, dual electric motors and an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. Both variants deliver a maximum power of 402bhp and 620Nm of torque. The Eco trim offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 594km, while the Plus variant offers up to 579km.
The VF9 can be charged from 10 to 70% in 35 minutes by using a DC fast charger. The EV also come with 7.7kW and 1.4kW portable charging options. Public charging supports Plug & Charge and Auto Charge functions.
Interior & Features
The VF9 features a minimalist dashboard with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch rear touchscreen for rear seat passengers in select markets. The Eco variant is available exclusively in a 7-seater layout, while the Plus trim comes in both 6 and 7-seat configurations.
Other key features include a large panoramic glass sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, a 13-speaker audio system, wireless charging, multiple USB ports for occupants across the three rows, multi-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, cabin air-quality technology, HUD (Head-Up Display), 12-way powered, heated, ventilated and massaging seats, OTA software updates, connected-car functions and more.
Dimensions
In terms of dimensions, the Vinfast VF9 SUV measures 5,118mm in length, 2,254mm in width, 1,696mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,148mm. The electric SUV offers a ground clearance of 181mm, and a boot space of 926-litres with third row folded. It also gets a 75-litre frunk.
