Hyundai and Kia are gearing up to introduce the next-generation Creta midsize SUV and Sonet subcompact SUV in 2027, respectively. Both models are currently in the testing phase and have been spotted multiple times, revealing interesting design and interior details. The 2027 Hyundai Creta will receive comprehensive design and tech upgrades along with a new strong hybrid powertrain. The 2027 Kia Sonet is also expected to undergo significant changes; however, its hybrid version is likely to arrive around 2028 or 2029.
New 2027 Hyundai Creta
The overall design and styling of the new Hyundai Creta are likely to be inspired by the Crater concept, which was showcased at AutoMobility LA 2025. Spy images suggest that the next-gen model will be longer, wider and more spacious than the current one.
Similar to the all-new Kia Seltos, the Creta will switch to the new K3 platform enabling the carmaker to increase the vehicle’s dimensions and offer more cabin space with improved packaging. The new Hyundai Creta will debut in India with the brand’s Pleos Connect system.
According to reports, the 2027 Hyundai Creta could be offered with the brand’s all-new 1.2L turbo petrol hybrid powertrain. The SUV lineup is also expected to retain the existing 1.5L NA petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engine options.
New 2027 Kia Sonet
Codenamed QY2E, the new Kia Sonet is expected to share the K1 platform with the Syros. This architecture is claimed to offer improved structural integrity, and crash protection, while also supporting advanced technologies such as remote diagnostics and OTA (over-the-air) updates. With this new underpinning, the 2027 Kia Sonet is expected to address the limited rear seat space issue of the current generation model.
Inside, the subcompact is expected to get a larger touchscreen and a fully digital driver’s display along with new trims and upholstery and Level 2 ADAS tech.
The existing 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines will be carried forward from the current generation. As mentioned above, the SUV lineup will receive a hybrid powertrain at a later stage.
