Following several spy shorts, official teasers and leaked images, the fourth-generation Hyundai i20 is finally here. The hatchback has made its world debut in Brazil, where it’s introduced in six variants – Comfort, Limited MT, Limited At, X Line, Platinum and Ultimate. Based on a new K3 platform, the 2027 Hyundai i20 receives comprehensive design updates and features and tech enhancements.

When is the new Hyundai i20 expected to launch in India?

Hyundai hasn’t yet revealed the India launch timeline for the new i20. However, reports suggest that the hatchback’s all-new model could hit Indian roads sometime in 2027.  

How does the new Hyundai i20 differ from the current model?

The all-new i20 looks significantly different from its current generation. The hatchback now features crossover-inspired design language and carries a sharper hexagonal grille, a redesigned split headlamp setup, Y-shaped LED DRLs and new connected LED light bar at the front. Moving to the side profile, the i20 looks longer than before and sports newly-designed alloy wheels and squared wheel arches. At the rear, it features full-width LED rear light bar.

Is the 2027 Hyundai i20 bigger than the current India-spec version?

Yes, the Brazil-spec i20 is 135mm longer and 5mm wider than the current India-spec model. The new model measures 4,130mm in length and 1,780mm in width with a wheelbase of 2,580mm. In comparison, the current India-spec i20 measures 3,995mm in length and 1,775mm in width.

How much boot space does the new Hyundai i20 offer?

The fourth-generation i20 offers a boot capacity of 346-litres, which can be expanded up to 1,152-litres with rear seats folded.

What are the key interior updates in the new-gen Hyundai i20?

In Brazil, the next-gen i20 is available with black and dual-tone grey cabin themes, depending on the variant. The hatchback now offers a new dual screen cockpit layout, each display measuring around 12.3-inch. A newly-designed dashboard, revised centre console and premium upholstery options further enhance its cabin experience.

The new i20 also comes equipped with wireless smartphone connectivity, Hyundai BlueLink connected car technology, OTA (over-the-air) updates, rear view camera display integrated into the screen, USB chargers at the front and rear, wireless phone charger and several more features.

Which engine options will be available with the new Hyundai i20?

The Brazil-spec i20 is powered by a 1.0L MPI naturally aspirated flex petrol engine, which produces power worth 115bhp and 172Nm of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed automatic gearbox. In India, the all-new i20 is expected to retain the existing 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engine options.

Will Hyundai introduce a hybrid version of the new i20 in India?

As of now, there is no official confirmation on a hybrid version of the hatchback. However, the brand’s new K3 platform has been designed to support hybrid powertrains, leaving the possibility open for the future.

Does the fourth-gen Hyundai i20 come with ADAS technology?

In Brazil, the fourth-generation i20 receives Hyundai SmartSense ADAS technology for the first time. The ADAS suite offers features such as blind spot collision avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping and following assist, intelligent speed limit assist and leading vehicle departure alert.
