The third-generation Hyundai Creta is undergoing rigorous testing overseas, with fresh spy shots continuing to reveal new details layer by layer. The latest images highlight a more upright and boxier stance, appears to be inspired by the Hyundai Crater concept. This concept previewed the brand’s upcoming compact electric off-road SUV, and made its debut at Automobility LA 2025.

What Have the Spy Images Revealed So Far?
Compared to the current generation, the new 2027 Hyundai Creta will be longer, wider and more spacious. Additionally, it will carry a sharper design language. Previous spy images suggest that the SUV will feature a steeply raked windscreen, a sloping roofline, a prominent roof spoiler, new 18-inch alloy wheels and shorter overhangs at both the front and rear.

Significant changes will be made inside the cabin. The new Hyundai Creta 2027 will come with an all-new interior layout with black leatherette upholstery visible in the spy images. It could get the new Kia Seltos-like front seat headrest along with adjustable headrests for rear seat passengers.
Features such as an updated, larger touchscreen, improved connected car tech and an upgraded ADAS suite could also be part of the package.
1.5L Engine Range To Remain Unchanged
Codenamed SX3, the new 2027 Hyundai Creta is expected to retain the existing 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines. Transmission options will also be carried over from the current generation.
First Hyundai with a Hybrid Powertrain
The biggest upgrade might come in the form of a strong hybrid powertrain. According to media reports, Hyundai is likely to use an electrified version of its tried-and-tested 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Launch Timeline & Rivals
While Hyundai has not officially announced launch details, the SUV is likely to arrive in the first quarter of 2027, with preparations likely to begin by late 2026. In the midsize SUV segment, the new Hyundai Creta will continue to rival the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Tata Sierra and Honda Elevate.
