The new 2026 Mahindra Thar OG is now on sale in India at a starting price of Rs 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The lifestyle off-road SUV has received comprehensive design upgrades and feature enhancements while retaining the same powertrain options. The updated model continues to take on the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

Design Highlights
Most of the design elements have been derived from the Thar Roxx. The new Mahindra Thar OG features a newly-designed grille, circular projector headlamps with new LED elements, C-shaped DRLs and a revised bumper. Other cosmetic updates include newly-designed 19-inch alloy wheels, revised LED taillamps and a tweaked rear bumper. Mahindra has also introduced new exterior colour options.
Interior & Features
Comprehensive upgrades have been made inside the cabin. The 2026 Mahindra Thar OG offers a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control and a 360-degree camera.
The remaining features have been carried over from the pre-facelift model, including a 6-speaker sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electronic stability program, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronically adjustable ORVMs and more.
Engine & Gearbox Options
Mechanically, the new 2026 Mahindra Thar OG continues to feature the 119bhp, 1.5-litre diesel, 132bhp, 2.2-litre diesel and 152bhp, 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine options. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, while a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission is exclusively offered with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines. The SUV is available with either AWD or RWD drivetrain systems.
Mahindra has also updated the chassis and the suspension setup to improve the SUV’s ride quality. The new Thar is now equipped with a Watts linkage and Da Vinci dampers suspension system. The is the first time this setup has been used on a body-on-frame.
