New Maruti Electric MPV Coming in 2026 – Kia Carens EV Rival

Maruti Suzuki has planned multiple new product launches for the next year including the e Vitara electric SUV. The upcoming range will also include the flex-fuel powered Fronx compact crossover, Brezza facelift and an electric family car (codenamed – Maruti YMC). The YMC will be the brand’s second electric offering in India, challenging the Kia Carens Clavis EV. In the company’s product lineup, the new Maruti electric MPV will be positioned above the Ertiga and XL6.

Maruti YMC – What to Expect?

The official launch timeline of the new Maruti electric MPV is yet to be announced, however, it’s expected to arrive towards the end of 2026. Its production is likely to begin by September 2026. According to media reports, the MPV will be built on a derivative of the 27PL skateboard platform that underpins the upcoming Maruti e Vitara.

As far as powertrain is concerned, the Maruti YMC might borrow the 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs from the e Vitara. The electric SUV delivers a claimed driving range of around 343km (WLTP) with smaller battery and 543km (ARAI) with larger battery pack.

Maruti EV Charging Network

The Indo-Japanese automaker has established over 2,000 charging stations across more than 1,100 cities nationwide. The company aims to setup an EV charging network of over 1 lakh points in collaboration with its dealers and charging point operators (CPOs) by 2030.

Maruti ‘e for me’ App

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the ‘e for me’ mobile application ahead of the e Vitara launch. Available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store, this app enables users to access charging points from both Maruti Suzuki charging stations and partner-operated networks.

The app also provides several other services such as remote control of smart home chargers, locating and accessing charging points, integrated home and public charging management, payment via UPI or Maruti Suzuki Money, In-car app mirroring via the infotainment system and “Tap N Charge” card support at dealer outlets and home charging points.
