Launched in early 2023, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx has emerged as one of the major contributors to the carmaker’s total sales volume. The compact crossover entered the market at the right time, when buyers were shifting from small cars to subcompact and midsize SUVs. The Maruti Fronx has always been favoured for its coupe-like SUV design, high ground clearance, multiple powertrain options and efficiency.
Maruti Suzuki is now gearing up to introduce the first major facelift of the Fronx. The updated model is currently running on test and has been spotted multiple times with heavy to semi-camouflage. While the official launch details of the new Fronx facelift are yet to be announced, the model is expected to arrive in 2027.
ADAS & Several New Features
The biggest feature upgrades will be the introduction of an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite as test mules have been spied with ADAS calibration equipment and a LIDAR (light detection and ranging) unit integrated into the rear bumper. The new 2027 Maruti Fronx facelift might also be offered with features such as new trims and upholstery, a sunroof and ventilated seats. These features could be reserved for the higher trims.
Minimal Design Changes
Subtle design changes are expected. The new Maruti Fronx 2027 facelift is expected to feature a slightly revised grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers and updated LED taillamps. Dimensionally, the compact crossover is likely to remain unchanged.
All-New Hybrid Powertrain
Maruti Suzuki is developing an in-house series hybrid powertrain for its future mass-market models including the Fronx, Baleno, Swift and Brezza. Codenamed HEV, the new strong hybrid technology is expected to be significantly more cost-effective than Toyota’s Atkinson cycle, which currently powers the Maruti Grand Vitara, Victoris and Invicto.
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed hybrid powertrain will debut in the new 2027 Maruti Fronx compact crossover. It will be based on the proven 1.2L Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine, and is expected to offer fuel efficiency as high as 35kmpl.
Competition
The new Maruti Fronx 2027 facelift will face challenge from like Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO and other subcompact SUVs in the segment.
