After petrol, CNG is the second-most preferred fuel type in FY2026, with nearly 22 percent of total passenger vehicle (PV) market. Nearly 10.34 lakh CNG-powered vehicles were sold during the same duration. Currently, Maruti Suzuki leads the segment with a 4.60% CNG market share, followed by Tata Motors (17.07%), Hyundai (8.91%) and others (4.60%).
Renault Triber Turbo
Aiming to strengthen its presence in the growing CNG segment, Renault India is planning to introduce a new turbocharged CNG model – the Renault Triber Turbo CNG. The MPV lineup is currently available only with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, pushing out power worth 71bhp and 96Nm of torque.
Renault is now gearing up to introduce a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, delivering a maximum power of 100PS and 160Nm of torque. The same engine already powers the Renault Kiger. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
Renault Triber CNG
Interestingly, the new Triber turbo will also be offered with a CNG option. While the official details are yet to be revealed, the turbo-CNG will get a factory-fitted CNG system instead of the dealer-fitted retrofit kit.
Renault has confirmed that the Triber CNG will feature a dual-cylinder setup placed under the MPV’s floor. This under-floor fitment will ensure that the boot space remains uncompromised. Renault has also re-engineered the Triber’s CMF-A platform, which is now referred to as the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). The power and torque outputs of the 1.0-litre turbo CNG powertrain are still under the wraps.
Launch Timeline & Expected Price
The turbo and CNG versions of the Triber are expected to hit showrooms in September or October, 2026. In terms of pricing, the Renault Triber CNG is expected to command a premium over the dealer-fitted CNG kits, which are currently priced from Rs 69,000 – Rs 1.08 lakh, depending on the model and variant.
