New Vinfast VF 8 Patented in India – 500km Range, Fast Charging & ADAS

In FY2026, Vinfast has emerged as one of the top four leading EV (electric vehicle) manufacturers in the country. Aiming to further strengthen its market presence and boost sales, the Vietnamese automaker is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio with VF3 micro EV and possibly the Vinfast VF 8.

The second-generation Vinfast VF8 recently made its global debut, and is now being patented in India. While there is no official word on its India launch timeline, it’s expected to make to the market in future.

New Vinfast VF 8 launch date

Battery, Range & Charging Time

The all-new Vinfast VF8 features a 60.13kWh battery pack paired to a front-axle mounted electric motor. This setup generates a maximum power of 228bhp and 330Nm of torque, making it 18bhp more powerful and 20Nm torquier than the old-gen model. The electric SUV offers a claimed NEDC-certified range of 500km per charge. It takes less than 30 minutes to charger from 10 to 70 percent. Unlike its predecessor, the next-generation model misses out on the AWD (all-wheel drive) system.

Dimensional Changes Explained

Compared to the previous generation, the new Vinfast VF 8 is 49mm shorter, 62mm narrower and 3mm taller. The wheelbase has been trimmed down by 110mm, while the ground clearance has increased by 8mm. The all-new model measures 4,701mm in length, 1,872mm in width and 1,670mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,840mm. The EV now offers a ground clearance of 170mm.

Interior & Features

Significant changes have been made inside the cabin. The new VF8 now features a smaller 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system replacing the massive 15.6-inch unit. The EV also comes with a new two-spoke steering wheel along with a 6-way powered driver’s seat with a memory function, dual zone climate control, an air purifier, an 8-speaker audio system, a 360-degree camera, an ADAS suite and electronic parking brake.

Design Highlights

Major design changes include a blanked-off black grille, newly-designed headlamps with eyebrow-shaped DRLs connected via V-shaped lightbar, blacked-out bumper with air vents on the lower section, newly-designed 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, larger taillamps with V-shaped LED strip and a revised rear bumper with black finish.
