Nothing’s Phone (4a) is in the office, which means it’s unboxing time. This is the regular, non-Pro model, though we’re also bringing you a look at the Pro soon!
The Nothing Phone (4a) is up for pre-order and will start shipping on March 13. It’s available in Black, White, Blue, and Pink, and in 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB variants. Prices start at €350/£350/₹32,000.
In the box, you get Nothing’s interesting SIM tool, a USB-C cable, and a case – something the Phone (3a) didn’t have a year ago.
Let’s talk specs. Upfront, the Nothing Phone (4a) has an excellent 6.78-inch 120Hz display with a 1224x2720px resolution and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
Ticking inside is a 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a newer-gen SoC than the 7s Gen 3 in this phone’s predecessor, offering around 7% CPU and GPU performance improvements and a 10% efficiency improvement. The Phone (4a)’s 256GB model uses faster UFS 3.1 storage too.
Finally, the battery has made a modest jump to 5,080mAh. Charging speed is the same at 50W, and it’s wired-only.
The Nothing Phone (4a) has a very similar design to its non-Pro predecessor. The Glyph interface is new, though. It’s now a Glyph Bar and is a 6-segment, 63-LED affair. There’s also a red tally light below for video recording.
Nothing Phone (4a) has a Glyph interface, duh
The frame is plastic on the non-Pro model, but it doesn’t feel cheap. The entire phone feels well-made and sits tight and secure in the hand.
We’re fans of the semi-transparent design. It looks interesting and smart, and stands out. The white model is also very adept at hiding smudges, prints, and dust (unlike the darker Black model).
The Nothing Phone (4a) may very well be all the phone you could need in your pocket. It has very few weaknesses – its chipset is capable, we expect respectable battery endurance, and the triple camera system should be perfectly fine for just about any task. Nothing’s software suite is unique and fluid, and Nothing will support the Phone (4a) with three OS updates and six years of security patches.
And there are some nice, quality-of-life features, like the Essential Key on the upper left, which lets you catalogue anything on-screen, and add a note. There’s also a feature that will guard you from using too much AI!
Moving to the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is around a €150/£150/₹8,000 step. You get a bigger Glyth Matrix, a slightly bigger, faster-refreshing 144Hz display, a metal frame, and a faster Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
