Oppo will unveil the Find N6 on March 17, but we’ve got an early hands-on for you today.
The Find N6 will bring a refined build, better cameras, faster processing, and what Oppo calls a zero-feel crease, which is unique and rather cool! We’ll talk about it, but first, an unboxing.
Oppo Find N6 in Orange and Silver
The Oppo Find N6 ships with a two-piece case – the front piece attaches with an adhesive, an 80W charger, and a USB-A to USB-C cable.
You can enhance the productivity of the Find N6 with the Oppo AI Pen. It sits, charged up at the back of its case, and can be used on both of the phone’s displays. It’s got it in the name, so you can bet the AI Pen has a host of smart features.
Oppo touts the Find N6’s zero-feel crease technology, and it’s a very apt name. The crease isn’t gone – that’s not currently possible. But it is smaller than on any other foldable, and more importantly, it feels like there’s hardly any crease when you run your finger over the inner screen’s surface.
Oppo managed to achieve this with what’s essentially micro-leveling. Oppo laser-scans the hinge area to detect height differences on a microscopic level. It then adds layers of photopolymer with a 3D liquid printer. This reduces surface variation to around 0.05 mm, which is thinner than a human hair. Clever stuff.
Oppo also touts the inner screen as tougher and longer-lasting than the industry standard. The Find N6 has a larger waterdrop fold radius, which decreases the stress at the point of maximum fold of the inner display.
The protective layer on top is also thicker by 50%. Oppo calls it an Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass, and it’s supposed to resist deformation after prolonged use by “springing back up” after folding.
Oppo claims a fold life of roughly 1 million folds, certified by TÜV Rheinland. That’s double the industry standard. Furthermore the company promises that there will be no increase in the depth of the crease for the first 600,000 of those.
