Tata Sierra is one of the latest entrants in the midsize SUV segment, available at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). If you’re planning to buy the Sierra, here’s an important update you should know. The SUV currently commands a waiting period of up to four months, depending on the variant, engine configuration and colour choice.

Interestingly, the petrol variants (both naturally aspirated and turbocharged) have relatively shorter waiting periods than the diesel versions, which are high in demand. The Sierra with an automatic transmission is observing a waiting period of around 15 to 30 days, while the manual gearbox-equipped variants are available in shorter delivery timelines. The higher trims and the Munnar Mist colour variants have longest waiting period across the range. It’s important to note that the aforementioned waiting periods may vary from city to city.

Built on the new ARGOS architecture, the Tata Sierra comes with three engine options – a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (106bhp/145Nm), a 1.5L, four-cylinder direct-injection turbo petrol (160bhp/255Nm) and a 1.5L diesel (118bhp). The NA petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while the turbo-petrol motor is offered exclusively with a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Aisin. The diesel variants can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
